April 12 -18 I think I have an accidental theme for this week …

1) Different apps for different modes

I’ve thought about this from time to time but sometimes it’s nice to have more than one note taking (or todo system) app running at the same time for different purposes.

Fernando breaks down his in detail in a way that really makes it obvious.

For me, I sometimes also use one system as a way to dump info in and another to process and clean up info. (Not going into which I’m using right now because I switch between about 6 things and some of them I don’t us sometimes.)

2) Unintentionally I’ve moved some things into physical paper notebooks too:

As someone who loves technology, I find it interesting that I have gone back to paper notebooks for select things.

It started as being a tactile thing but I realized it’s more.

I can open it & not be greeted with a security update or an interface change I have to reorient myself around.

Fav size: A5 • Fav paper: dot grid or graph
Format: I do not like journals with permanent pages so it’s been a progression. I used Rhodia before I switched to electronic:

This year I landed on really liking the Small 20 ring binders where I can reorganize pages. And now have the following for different purposes:

Reusable metal tabs are an awesome addition: https://www.jetpens.com/Midori-Chiratto-Index-Clip-Orange/pd/27536

Pens & pencils are a whole ordeal on their own.

And, as I was discussing with someone earlier this week …

I have a lot of “dashboards”

… and I kinda feel like that explains a bit of both the various digital and paper systems I have. Different PKMs, dashboards and project management systems to organize information as it comes at us faster and faster…
